Team Nigeria’s men’s 4x100m relay team has lost its silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after Canada successfully appealed its earlier disqualification.
The Nigerian team, made up of Favour Ashe, Kayinsola Ajayi, Nicholas Fakorede, and Udodi Onwuzurike, had originally been awarded the silver medal after Canada, which finished second, was disqualified for an alleged lane violation.
Canada had crossed the finish line in 38.11 seconds, behind Australia, which won the gold medal. Although the Canadian team was initially disqualified, it later challenged the decision.

After reviewing the appeal, officials overturned the disqualification and restored Canada’s silver medal. As a result, Nigeria’s relay team was moved down to the bronze medal position.
The appeal also delayed the medal presentation before organisers confirmed the updated results on the official Commonwealth Games website.
With the latest change, Team Nigeria has now won 23 medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, made up of 10 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze medals.
